Aside from when we could go schedule-wise, we wanted to consider the weather. Connie is a complete wienie when it comes to being cold. We don’t like crowds, so we decided to avoid Oktoberfest (the end of September/beginning of October). We went in the fall, at the tail end of the tourist season. In fact, a couple of the places that we wanted to visit closed just days after we were there. If we had gone even one week later, we would have missed some great sites. In deciding which cities we’d visit on which day, we had to check the various websites for hours of operation. For example, some museums are closed at least one day a week. Finding the right website was a bit confusing in a few instances, even with the English translations.
